What it is
Sciatica describes pain, tingling, or numbness that travels from the low back into the buttock and leg, often from irritation of a nerve root.
Conditions it may help with
- Leg pain from the low back
- Disc herniation
- Piriformis-related irritation
- Spinal stenosis symptoms
How evaluation and treatment work
Depending on the cause, care may include spinal decompression, adjustments, and specific movement recommendations.
What to expect at your appointment
Neurological testing of reflexes, strength, and sensation is part of the exam to understand nerve involvement.
Common questions
When is sciatica an emergency?
Seek immediate care for leg weakness that is worsening, numbness in the groin area, or loss of bladder or bowel control.
Some symptoms call for medical evaluation beyond chiropractic care — for example numbness that is spreading, loss of bladder or bowel control, unexplained weight loss, fever with back pain, or pain following serious trauma.
