What it is
Shoulder pain can originate in the joint itself, surrounding muscles, or the neck. Finding the true source is key.
Conditions it may help with
- Shoulder stiffness
- Muscle strain
- Pain referred from the neck
- Overuse discomfort
How evaluation and treatment work
Care may include joint mobilization, adjustments of the neck and upper back, soft-tissue therapy, and home exercises.
What to expect at your appointment
Your exam will include movement and strength testing to clarify whether the shoulder or neck is the main contributor.
Common questions
Could my shoulder pain be from my neck?
Yes, it can be. The examination helps tell the difference.
Some symptoms call for medical evaluation beyond chiropractic care — for example numbness that is spreading, loss of bladder or bowel control, unexplained weight loss, fever with back pain, or pain following serious trauma. If anything in your exam suggests another provider is needed, Dr. Homsey will tell you and help coordinate a referral.
